As a third-generation family business, we know how important a consciously considered corporate management and corporate philosophy geared to long-term success are for us. For us, economic growth is always in harmony with social and ecological thinking. The advancing climate change and the continuing scarcity of resources demand conscious action from all economic and social actors. We, the company RECHNER Sensors, take our corporate responsibility seriously in the course of the advancing topic and support the three pillars economy (economy), environment (ecology) and social affairs in the long term with our sustainability strategy. In doing so, we act in accordance with the multidimensional sustainability concept, which not only takes into account the careful use of natural resources, but also the social and economic impact of measures taken. For us, a healthy sustainability concept represents a balance of the three cornerstones.
The Three Pillars of Sustainability

With a company history of almost 60 years, we are aware of our economic, social, ethical and ecological responsibility and set ourselves correspondingly high standards. As a member of the ZVEI, we have been committed to the Code of Conduct for many years. Furthermore, we are committed to supporting the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals for a better future. Since 2022, we have been certified as a climate-neutral company. For more than 10 years, we have been producing over 60% of our electricity needs with our solar plant. With our products, we make a technical contribution to safe automation processes. For example, our WHG certified sensors prevent overfilling of tanks and detect possible leaks quickly and safely. This reliably protects our soil and water. With our Made in Germany products, we ensure that fair wages and sustainable resource management are guaranteed. Economy (Economics)
In recent years, factors such as secure jobs and sustainable value creation have gained extreme relevance and attention. As a medium-sized family business, we guarantee a stable and secure workplace in a family atmosphere for more than 100 employees. We attach great importance to high-quality education and offer young people a secure, interesting and challenging workplace. In addition to responsible risk-taking, established planning processes and comprehensive corporate security play an essential role in sustainable economic growth. As part of our quality management, potential opportunities and risks are recorded and evaluated alongside key financial figures, and resulting measures are derived. In this way, tasks and challenges that arise can be mastered, thus ensuring long-term corporate success.
Environment (Ecology)
We have been a climate-neutral company since 2021. Additionally, with the construction of the expanded warehouse in 2018, we decided to plant a wildflower meadow on the new site as part of a company vote. In 2021, we decided to enter into a commercial partnership with a local beekeeper, which has since allowed us to own two bee colonies. Why did we decide to do this? “Bee pollination is indispensable for the functioning of ecosystems. These ecosystems and the organisms found in these habitats provide, among other things, oxygen, clean water, regulate the climate, and provide food and medicines, known as ecosystem services. Bees help pollinate wild and cultivated plants. Not only do they produce honey, but as pollinators of many plants, they secure much of our food and biodiversity.” Through our own projects, such as our primeval forest project, which protects over 200-year-old beech trees in the Odenwald, we would like to make our company climate-positive in the future and thus make a contribution to our earth, to our future and to the future of the next generations.
Social togetherness
Due to the increased interest of the public as well as the growing awareness of social principles, we focus not only on monetary benefits, but also on individual and health-promoting benefits. RECHNER Sensors, as a family-owned company that operates sustainably, attaches enormous importance to a safe working environment, but also to promoting the health of all employees worldwide. Employees* are supported in using either public transport or the e-bike to travel to work. A cooperation (Job-Bike) has been established with a local bicycle rental company, where employees can finance an e-bike at a reduced price through the company. Daily exercise can reduce musculoskeletal complaints, which has a positive effect on absenteeism, among other things. In addition, a few years ago a community garden was set up with fruit cultivation, enabling employees to stock up on the company’s own seasonal fruit on a daily basis. Last but not least, our employees annually receive company-produced honey, which is produced by our own bee colonies. In addition to our own wildflower honey, we offer various types of honey for the cold season in cooperation with our beekeeper, including “Opa Heinis Kraftprotz” with propolis and pollen to counteract diseases.
